![]() This week I got a call to unclog a shower drain. I started by removing the drain cover. The screws were a bit rusty so I had to make sure I was carful not to strip the head of the screw and create more work for myself. After I removed the drain cover and as I was pulling it up, a bunch of hair that was stuck to it came up with the cover. This almost could have been the problem. I still cleaned it out with a small hand held snake, you can use a wire hanger as the two inch opening is not very deep at the elbow. I retrieved a good size hair ball that was causing the slow draining of the shower. Once I removed the hair ball, I ran hot water for about a minute to make sure that the drain was cleared of any other debris. I closed it and on my way I went. So, try taking the drain cover off first before calling a plumber and see what you bring up with the cover, then use a wire hanger to clear out the immediate drain area and see if that helps. Good luck. You can always call us for a free estimate or visit our website www.camarillo-plumbers.com
